You Will Never Fully Figure Out Money. Here Is Why That Is Not the Problem.

I sold pastries at 5:30am when I was 13.

My mother worked away, my family had little, and the message my nervous system absorbed early was simple and unforgiving: money requires exhaustion to justify it.

I didn’t choose that belief. It was installed before I had the awareness to question it.

Decades later — after co-founding a software company, moving across three continents, building a new business from a spare room in Brisbane — I can tell you that the strategy changed many times. The belief took much longer.

And that is the part nobody talks about.

The Nervous System Doesn’t Know It’s 2026

When conversations about money trigger anxiety, avoidance or exhaustion, the issue is rarely a lack of intelligence or discipline. More often, it reflects a deeper relationship between money, energy and self-worth — one shaped by nervous system conditioning, survival experiences and learned beliefs about value. Lightworkers Garden

These are often unconscious beliefs about money formed in childhood, absorbed from family, culture and early experiences. These scripts dictate our financial behaviours, often without our awareness, influencing everything from saving habits to how we price our own work. AMC-SGPS

In other words — your nervous system is running financial code that was written for a version of your life that no longer exists.

The 13-year-old selling pastries before dawn learned that money comes from effort that costs you something. That belief doesn’t just disappear when the circumstances change. It runs underneath every financial decision until it is consciously identified and rewritten.

In 2026, 72% of adults report financial stress as their primary burden, with nearly half admitting it has begun to manifest as physical illness. That is not a budgeting problem. That is a nervous system problem. Tennessee

The Pattern Underneath the Strategy

Here is what I have learned — and what the research increasingly confirms.

Financial behaviour is not primarily rational. It is primarily patterned.

Joe Dispenza’s work on the biology of belief demonstrates that the subconscious mind — which governs approximately 95% of our daily behaviour — operates from programmes installed long before conscious decision-making was available to us. Those programmes include our earliest experiences of money, scarcity, safety and what we believed we deserved.

The strategy you layer on top of those programmes — the budget, the business plan, the investment portfolio — will consistently underperform until the programme underneath is updated.

This is what I mean by financial identity.

Not your income. Not your net worth. The belief running the system that produces both.

Living From the End

Neville Goddard called it living from the end — inhabiting the identity of the person who already has what you want, before the external evidence arrives.

Abraham Hicks frames it differently: you will never get it done, and you will never get it wrong. The journey is the point. The evidence accumulates whether you are watching for it or not.

Both of these, I have come to understand, are not spiritual concepts. They are nervous system instructions.

When you practise feeling the frequency of abundance — genuinely locating it in memories that are already real — you begin to regulate the nervous system’s relationship with money differently. The scarcity response softens. The contraction loosens. Decisions that previously felt dangerous begin to feel available.

I experienced this in the most ordinary way possible.

A Tuesday when I didn’t have to work and chose to stay home with my sick daughter. No income lost. No permission needed. No choice to make.

That moment — that quiet, unremarkable Tuesday — was the most honest definition of financial abundance I have ever lived.

The freedom.

You Will Never Fully Figure It Out

And here is the insight I want to leave with you.

You will never arrive at a point where money is fully sorted. The circumstances will keep changing. The goals will evolve. The uncertainty will not disappear.

What changes is your relationship with the uncertainty.

When the nervous system is regulated — when the old financial identity has been updated — the uncertainty stops feeling like a threat. It starts feeling like data. Evidence of a system that has always worked out, even when you couldn’t see how.

I’m 48. I have 48 years of evidence that it works out. Because I kept moving from the belief that it would.

That is not luck.

That is identity.

And identity — unlike strategy — can be deliberately updated.
